A Vision

Founded on the vision of sustainable and timeless design, Són Oliva brings pieces that celebrate tradition and artisan craftsmanship. Our avarcas are an expression of that philosophy; authentic Spanish sandals, artisan made by the very best local shoemakers of the island of Menorca. Our designs are exclusive and made-to-order months in advance, minimising waste and environmental impact.

A Story

My dream was quite simple; to bring an all-time favourite Spanish sandal to this side of the world. Inspired by Australia's lifestyle and weather, it felt only natural to do so!

I've spent countless summers on the Balearic Island and the menorquina has always been a summer staple amongst family and friends. After a holiday in Menorca back in October 2019, I started reaching out to local artisans in the hope of finding one that could produce a small amount, in the right colours, shape and materials that I was looking for. My Spanish heritage aided my journey to find local artisans with decades of experience. Their knowledge and passion for these beautiful shoes have guided the material selection and creative process to ensure the shoes are comfortable, durable and crafted to last.

A Place

Menorca ~ a beautiful, small Spanish island in the Mediterranean Sea with beautiful virgin and unspoiled beaches, turquoise crystal clear waters, breathtaking green countryside, charming white houses and an extraordinary gastronomic heritage. It is the birthplace of the avarca sandal - the inspiration for my Menorquinas - and an absolute must visit when in Europe.
